Construction
As
much as we love greenroofs for all of the economic and environmental
benefits
they offer, not all buildings can receive a greenroof. Age of the
building, roof accessibility and cost are all factors to consider
before deciding
whether to greenroof your property.
Look
below for your building type. If
your building meets the criteria listed, then you are Roof
Ready!
Please contact
us for an estimate on your new greenroof!
If the
answers to the questions below are "No," greenroofing
may not be right for your building, or may not be feasible at
this time.
Greenroof Retrofits to Single-Family Homes and Small Buildings
- Are
you planning to replace your roof or waterproofing within the next

- Does

you don't have a roof deck, was your home built after 1960?
- If
you don't have a roof deck and have a home built before 1960, have
you had structural reinforcing or new roof joists installed
in the last ten years?
- If
none of the above apply, do you want to greenroof an addition,
garage, or out-building built
within the last 15 years?
- Is
your rooftop sunny with relatively few or no trees growing above?
- Can
you afford to spend about $10-20 per square foot,
in addition to the cost of replacing your roof with specialized
waterproofing ($7-12/sf)? (D.C. home rooftops average about 600
sf.)
