DC Greenworks is a non-profit organization that supports projects and provides expertise on low-impact storm water management and urban forestry, including green roofs, rain gardens, and rain barrels.  We see a vital connection between ecology and economy, between employment potential and environmental sustainability. We actively seek to discover, promote, and deliver cutting-edge solutions that are cost-effective, eco-friendly, and socially beneficial.

Now more than ever, we need your donation to help support our efforts:

• reduce stormwater runoff and the pollution it carries from entering the Chesapeake Bay
  
• promote urban agriculture through our design and implementation of rooftop gardening
  
• create green jobs by expanding our green roof and rain barrel installation programs
  
• help educate school children and neighbors in how to use nature’s materials to restore and protect our communities

Each year about 1.6 billion gallons of polluted stormwater and raw sewage makes its way into the Potomac and Anacostia rivers, and Rock Creek.  When it rains, DC’s parking lots, streets and rooftops funnel polluted runoff laden with bacteria, trash and toxins into our waters.  This can result in beach closures, unsafe conditions for fishing and swimming, and contamination of drinking water supplies.
