1425 K St NW - October 2004
Installed in June of 2004, this 3,500 square foot green roof was the first retrofit project in Washington, DC.  It holds 33,000 pounds of growing medium and almost 10,000 plants.

Built in a combined effort of Blake Real Estate, Casey Trees, Covenant House, and DC Greenworks, 1425 K Street was awarded Washington Business Journal's "Best Real Estate Deal of 2004" in category of "Best Sustainable Growth and Environmental Impact".

Since it's completion, over 5,000 people from all hemispheres have toured this green roof.  It is regularly used today as a prime example of commercial green roofing in the nation's capital.
