Seven or more TreeKeepers living on a block make a D.C. TreeKeeper Community. TreeKeeper Communities commit to caring for all of the street trees on their block for one year, and this block-wide commitment makes them eligible to receive treecare training in their neighborhood.

D.C. TreeKeeper Communities enjoy the following membership benefits:

  • Access to all of our seasonal Treecare Workshops on planting, maintenance, pruning, and tree box improvement. One workshop of your choice is FREE with Community membership.
  • TreeGators® (irrigation devices) for all of the young trees on your block;
  • Tree Planting, Tree Identification, and Treecare guidebooks;
  • 100 feet of garden hose to help water all your trees;
  • Membership card that entitles you to discounts at local nurseries and hardware stores;
  • Discounts on locally-made rain barrels to store rainwater for watering your trees and gardens;
  • Subscription to The Leaf, our quarterly TreeKeeper newsletter with seasonal treecare information, articles, commentary, community grant information; and
  • Ongoing support, upon request.

TreeKeeper Community Memberships are group-priced memberships that require a minimum of seven people on a block to enroll, but the fee can be split across as many as 20 households per block. And, the more neighbors enroll, the more rewarding your Community Membership experience will be.

  • Moderate Income $250 (7–20 households per block)
  • Lower Income $150 (7–20 households per block)

    Only communities in Shaw, LeDroit Park, Howard, Bloomingdale, Eckington, Truxton Circle, Trinidad, Carver-Langston, Ivy City, or any neighborhood East of the River qualify for Lower Income Membership pricing at this time. If you think your neighborhood should be on this list, please give us a call.

Online enrollment requires a credit card. If you wish to pay by check or money order, please download the enrollment form.
