February 2005—Coming to a Movie Theatre…
Our pioneering efforts are gaining notice! The new documentary film “Reining in the Storm - One Building at a Time” by local filmmaker Dave Eckert is an important landmark of progress towards city-wide awareness of greening strategies. As part of the 2005 D.C. Environmental Film Festival, this movie portrays the story of Low Impact Development in the Greater Washington region and includes footage of D.C. Greenworks at work on the 1425 K Street greenroof.

November 2003—Featured Project, National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council (NUCFAC) Annual Report

September 2003—Anacostia Watershed Stewardship Award from the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin for "Outstanding efforts to reduce non-point source pollution to the Anacostia River and educating the public by planting trees and installing rain gardens and greenroofs at sites throughout the District. "

February 2003—International Society of Arboriculture Gold Leaf Award for our D.C. TreeKeepers program’s "Outstanding Landscape Beautification Activities ".

June 1994—Greenstein Fellowship for Visionary Thinking in the Public Service Sector from the Associated Foundation in Baltimore.
