Demonstration© Rooftops, the last urban frontier… an unexplored area that arguably has the greatest potential of all urban spaces for remediating pollution and creating a higher quality of life for DC residents and the environment. Greenroofing is a Low Impact Development Best Management Practice perfect for the urban setting, addressing specifically urban environmental and economic ills. This proposal recommends the installation of a 3,500 square foot demonstration greenroof Downtown in order to study the stormwater runoff efficiency of such an application, and to promote the technology to developers, property managers, planners, City officials, and environmental non-profits as an attractive, effective, and economical solution to stormwater management and non-point-source water pollution prevention.
