Van is a co-founder of three successful non-profit organizations: the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Color of Change and Green For All. He is the best-selling author of the definitive book on green jobs: The Green-Collar Economy. He served as the green jobs advisor in the Obama White House in 2009.

Casey Trees    

Casey Trees plants trees, trains people to become Citizen Foresters, engages thousands of volunteers in tree planting and care, teaches students in District schools about trees, monitors the city's tree canopy and provides guidelines for better planting space design so trees will thrive in the city.

Inhabit Studio

headshot Salvatore Pirrone is the owner and founder of Inhabit Studio, based out of Washington, DC.  Inhabit Studio is an interdisciplinary practice committed to the intersection of art, architecture, design and culture.  An artist, designer and educator by trade, Salvatore has lived and practiced in Florida, South Carolina, Italy, New York and most recently, Washington, DC.  He received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Florida and a Master of Fine Art from Parsons the New School for Design in New York.  Inhabit Studio looks at the potential to elevate simple and otherwise disposable materials into thoughtful and responsive objects for dwelling.

Salvatore uses scraps from DC Greenworks green roof materials to create attractive creative hanging planters!
